I-57 bridge back open to traffic

Just in time for weekend travel, the Interstate 57 Mississippi River Bridge between Cairo and Charleston is back open.

The Illinois Department of Transportation closed the bridge for three days to make repairs.

Traffic was again allowed on the bridge around midnight.

The work forced a pretty serious detour through Cape Girardeau for both north and south bound traffic.
