4 teenagers injured in Mississippi County crash

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS)- Four East Prairie teenagers were injured in a rollover crash Monday evening in Mississippi County.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol, it happened around 9:10 p.m. on County Road 526, near County Road 525.

Troopers say a 16-year-old female driver lost control of her car, went off the right side of the road, and down an embankment. The car then overturned and came to a rest on its top in a water filled ditch.

The driver received moderate injuries.

Two 16-year-old female passengers and a 15-year-old female passenger in the car received moderate injuries.

All four, who were wearing seat belts, were taken to Mo. Delta Medical Center in Sikeston for treatment.

Rte. 60/62 to be reduced for drainage repairs

Rte. 60/62 to be reduced for drainage repairs

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri Department  of Transportation says Route 60/62 will be reduced to one lane while crews perform drainage repairs.

This section of road  is located between Route EE and Route 77.

Weather permitting, crews will be working Tuesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 9 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

MoDOT says the work zone will be marked with signs. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while in the area.

Mo. Bootheel Regional Consortium introduces new program

(KFVS) - The Missouri Bootheel Regional Consortium, Inc. has introduced a new program for women and children in the Missouri Bootheel.

The Maternal and Child Health Demonstration Project is a 3- year grant funded program sponsored through the Missouri Foundation of Health, established to fill gaps in healthcare for women of reproductive age, 15-44, in the Missouri Bootheel.

The project will address both individual and environmental barriers to health care. Environmentally by helping organizations address social determinants to health care and individually through smoking cessation, obesity reduction, and healthy eating.

Charleston man owns George Jones' first guitar

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS)- A public memorial service for the late George Jones was held Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee.

The country music legend died last Friday at the age of 81.

The memorial for country legend George Jones was held at the Grand Ole Opry .

Former first lady Laura Bush spoke at the funeral along with friends and a variety of country singers who performed including Barbara Mandrell, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Tanya Tucker, Wynonna Judd, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Patty Loveless and Randy Travis.

A private funeral was held on Wednesday but Thursday's memorial was open to the public.

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri Bootheel Regional Consortium (MBRC) is announcing a new health care program for women and children in the Bootheel.

Scott, New Madrid, Mississippi, Pemiscot, and Dunklin counties in the Missouri Bootheel, are ranked among the lowest in the state in regards to overall health, according to the consortium.
