EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS) - An East Prairie neighborhood held a Community Appreciation Day Friday, September 27 for the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department.
Several months ago, the neighborhood of Eagle's Landing Phase 1 and 2 and East View had some concerns that their neighborhood had become too unsafe. Parents said they would not even let their children outside to play.
Sheriff Keith Moore said people from outside of the neighborhood came through often and hung out on the streets there. Parents called the sheriff's department and told them about the situation.
Deputies patrolled the area and told people to leave that didn't belong there.
On Friday, parents say the community feels safe again and they let their children back out to play. They feel the sheriff's department did a great job and made the neighborhood a better place for families to live.
