EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS) - An East Prairie man is facing more charges after a jail contraband investigation.
Jimmy Allen Polston, 40, was charged with possession of a weapon/dangerous item in the county jail and damage to jail property. Bond was set at $50,000.
According to Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore, the investigation began when a corrections officer saw Polston carrying a piece of paper across the inmate living quarters.
The officer said he noticed smoke coming from the paper as Polston pushed it under a door into the adjacent pod; and then smelled smoke when he entered the pod to retrieve the lit paper. At that time, the officer contacted the jail administrator, Deputy Cory Hutcheson, for help finding the ignition source.
