2 face drug charges after pills found

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Two people face drug charges after a traffic stop for speeding.

Sarah Tatum Riley, 18, of Anniston and Brandon A. Gaddy, 26, of East Prairie are charged with distribution, and manufacturing with the intent to distribute.

Both were taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center with a bond of $50,000 cash or surety.

More than 90 narcotic pills were located in their possession.

Bertrand woman accused of receiving stolen property

BERTRAND, MO (KFVS) - A Bertrand woman is accused of receiving stolen property.

Annie Lee Nicole Lofline, 26, of Bertrand is charged with three counts of receiving stolen property.

Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says three stolen firearms wrapped in a blanket were found in the trunk of a vehicle owned by Loflin.

Her bond is set at $2,500 with 10 percent with the court.

23-year-old accused of retrieving stolen items for her brother

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says a 23-year-old was arrested for retrieving stolen property for her brother.

Deborah Maye Scofield, 23, was charged with receiving stolen property. Her bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.

According to Moore, Scofield retrieved stolen items for her brother, Matthew Allen Scofield, who was in the Mississippi County Detention Center with charges of first degree burglary and stealing. His bond was set at $50,000.

3 East Prairie residents charged in recent crime spree

EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS) - Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says three area residents have been arrested in a recent crime spree.

Lance Simmerman, 19 of East Prairie, has been charged with two counts of second degree burglary, one count of first degree burglary, two counts of second degree property damage, two counts of theft, one count of tampering with a motor vehicle, stealing and a parole warrant. He was returned to the Department of Corrections on a parole warrant.

Brian Burney, 24 of East Prairie, was charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and is currently being held in the Mississippi County Detention Center with a bond of $25,000.

Sheriff Moore said Burney faces charges in an adjoining county as well.

Susan Elizabeth Wallace Johnson, 24 of East Prairie, was charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property. She is held with a bond of $50,000 cash or surety and also has charges from an adjoining county.

Bertrand, MO sees increase in crime

BERTRAND, MO (KFVS)- Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore blames the state of the economy for causing the increase in crime in Bertrand.

"There is something very wrong here in Bertrand and something needs to be done," Brenda Pendergrass, a daughter of a recent victim, said. "When you can't feel safe in your own home, where can you feel safe?"

Pendergrass' parents, Harlan and Pansey, were sleeping in their bed, while just outside the room they were being robbed.

"Just to think we were in there asleep and didn't hear nothing," Pansey Terrell said. "Like I told my daughter, well that stuff can be replaced. But we can't, but we're so old, you probably wouldn't want to replace us anyway.

Sense of humor still is intact. But, their sense of security has been forever shaken.

"Well I told my husband, I'll be afraid to go to sleep now," Terrell said. "I'll be afraid to go to sleep."

Wilson City man arrested for being convicted felon with a gun

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A Wilson City man was arrested for being a felon in possession of a gun.

Eric Antoine Dowell, 31, was charged with being a felon in possession of a gun.

According to Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says information from an anonymous tip led to the arrest of Dowell. He says according to reports, Dowell had made comments about having a gun and he was going to shoot someone. Moore says sheriff deputies found the suspect vehicle, pulled him over for a traffic stop and found the high powered fun under the seat of the vehicle.

Dowell's bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.

2 men arrested in connection with Bertrand home burglary

2 men arrested in connection with Bertrand home burglary

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says two men were arrested less than 24 hours after a burglary was reported in Bertrand.

Joshua Matthew Foster, 28 from Charleston, and Casey Dewayne Burton, 23 from Sikeston, were charged with receiving stolen property and a felon in possession of a gun. He is being held on a $75,000 cash only bond.

They are being held at the Mississippi County Detention Center.

According to the sheriff, several items including guns, jewelery and money were reported stolen from and were recovered.
