New mobile site helps travelers plan just in time for spring

(KFVS) - Tuesday, March 20 is the first day of spring and the Missouri Division of Tourism announces you can now access their new mobile version on VisitMo.com in to time for travelers to plan trips.

The mobile site m.VisitMO.com, is compatible with iPhones and Android-based phones, and allows users to access thousands of attractions, events, restaurants, shops and lodging options in Missouri. According to MDT, all you have to remember is VisitMO.com; the site will automatically render the mobile version for users on a mobile phone. Tablet users will default to the full version, as larger tablet screens are better suited for the full-site experience.

If you haven't already seen it, be sure to look at the skies after dark to see a picture it is providing at this time.

You will find a  nice bright crescent moon. On Sunday, to the left  of the moon is the planet Jupiter, and to the bottom of the moon is the planet Venus which is a little brighter than the planet Jupiter. You don't want to miss it.

MDNR providing up to $10 million for energy efficient projects

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will be providing up to $10 million in low-interest loans for energy efficiency projects through the Energize Missouri Schools and Local Governments program.

The loans will help Missouri school districts, local governments, public colleges and universities.

"The energy savings achieved through these projects will save taxpayers money, and will allow schools, local governments, and colleges and universities to redirect the energy savings to continue investment into other essential services and capital improvement projects," said Sara Parker Pauley, director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. "The projects implemented as a result of these loans will help schools and local governments improve their facilities and follows Gov.

'Solar Day' for Hearnes Elementary, St. Henry's rescheduled

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) - "Solar Day" has been resheduled for Tuesday, May 17 around 8:40 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The event is for Hearnes Elementary and St. Henry's students in the third and fifth grade. It is an outdoor classroom that features presenters ranging from local organization members to state wildlife officials.

The day will be spent at Corse Farms near Charleston, Mo. Students will get to touch, see, taste and experience the outdoor life. They will also learn about things like the Native American heritage of Southeast Missouri and learn skills like campfire cooking and fishing.

Job fairs for Youth Corps available in Mississippi Co.

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Two job fairs will provide information on this year's State Parks Youth Corps and seasonal employment for Big Oak Tree State Park.

The first job fair will be April 26 at the Clara Drinkwater Newnam Library located at 105 East Marshall Street in Charleston, Mo. The second job fair will be April 28 at the East Prairie Nutrition Center located at 304 East Main Street in East Prairie, Mo.

Both job fairs will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and staff from the Big Oak Tree State Park will be there to answer questions.

The Youth Corps will give jobs to young people ages 17-21 from April 1 to November 30 along with additional seasonal employment opportunities.
