Hearnes Family Game Night a Success

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) - On Thursday, November 15, Hearnes Title 1 Family Involvement led by B.J. Babb held its fourth annual "Family Game Night."

This year's theme was "Math & Reading Games," where most of the games had an academic twist. Over 260 parents and students took advantage of the free event, enjoying games and activities set throughout the school.

As always, the big idea behind Family Game Night is to show students and parents that games are a great resource for teaching skills. While families played games, they were also busy sharpening their reading and math skills.

This year, Family Game Night featured six unique game areas and a variety of activities, like an obstacle course, "Computer Central," where families used school technology resources, and "Make-It, Take-It," where students made study booklets to practice math facts.

Babb would like to thank the faculty helpers, Kathy Browning and her CHS student helpers, the Hearnes OPAA! kitchen staff, Haley Manning and Savannah Kesselring, and a special thanks to Blue Jays mascot "Billy Blue" for his guest appearance!

The next family event, "Science Family Night," will be on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
