Hearnes holds Science Family Night, McNeary honored as Science Educator of the Year

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) - "Science Family Night" was held on Thursday, February 7 at the Charleston Middle School gymnasium.

Local elementary students and their families were invited to see fun and exciting experiments performed by the night's special guest, local scientist Jason Lindsey (HookedOnScience.org).

Lindsey thrilled the audience with his science experiments, ranging from hovercraft rides to his signature toilet paper snow experiment. Both students and adults were chosen from the audience to participate.

Immediately following the presentation, Lindsey surprised 5th grade science teacher Mrs. Charlotte McNeary by recognizing her as "Hooked on Science Educator of the Year" for her outstanding work in science education. Each year the Hooked on Science team searches for an educator that demonstrates an excellence in science teaching. McNeary will receive tools for the classroom and more.
