Voters take time to stop and pray | News
EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS)- Polls opened at 7 a.m. sharp Tuesday, and while voters rushed to the polls all day, some took that time out to pray.
The East Prairie Ministerial Alliance conducted a 24-hour vigil at the First Church of God.
The prayer began at 7 p.m. Monday and run until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
"The election season is a pivotal time for our country and our community and so our ministerial alliance said during a meeting why don't we do something like this," said Mark Helton, a pastor at the First Church of God. "Put this together just to give folks in our churches and our community an opportunity to spend some time in prayer thinking about what they will be voting for who they will be voting for."
The church, conveniently located just right across the street from a polling place, brought in more than 50 voters throughout the day.
