Woman comes home to find burglar hiding in closet | News
EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS)- Two East Prairie residents face burglary charges after a woman came home to find her lights not working and someone in her home.
A woman who lives on Highway 80 just outside of East Prairie came home from work on June 27 to find her lights would not come on. She went to check the breaker box. When she tried to open the closet, someone pulled it shut.
She ran to a neighbor who held the closet shut to keep the suspect from running away until deputies arrived.
Deputies found Anthony Matthews in the closet and Kasie Housman behind a water heater in a utility room.
A rear window in the home had been broken.
Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says the homeowner did the right thing by leaving her home and contacting the sheriff's department.
Anthony Matthews and Kasie Housman are charged with first degree burglary, first degree property damage and felony stealing. Both were taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center with bonds set at $100,000.
Both suspects are set to appear before Judge T. Lynn Brown for arraignment on July 10 at 9 a.m.
